eyes: used to be green when he was a human, but now varies between black and golden, depending on his thirst
hair: reddish-brown, usually messy
height: 6'5''
weight:
distinguishing features: his crooked smile
general appearance: Edward shares most, if not all, of the physical characteristics attributed to vampires. His skin is very pale, and, at least for humans, very hard and cold. He has the typical deep purple rings below his eyes, which he acquired from all of his vampire nights, during which he wasn’t able to sleep at all. Edward, as well as the rest of the Cullen family, follows a vegetarian diet (he only feeds on animal blood) and that causes his eyes to be liquid-topaz and not vivid red like other vampires who survive on human blood. However, his eyes go from topaz to deep black when he has spent too much time without hunting. Like it happens with other vampires, Edward’s skin sparkles on the sunlight, and that’s the reason why he never goes out when it’s sunny.
Many times, Edward is described to be impossibly beautiful. He has almost perfect and very angular face features, such as high cheek bones, full lips and straight nose. His hair is bronze-colored and he never spends too much time combing it, so it’s always a bit messy. Edward isn’t the strongest in the family, actually it’s quite the opposite, he is the least muscular of the Cullen boys. However, this doesn’t make of him a less dangerous threat. He is very tall and thin, which makes him the fastest of the Cullens. As for clothing style, a piece of information is essential: Edward was born in 1901 after all. This means that he would rather wear much more conservative clothes, not being very into baggy trousers chains and things like that.
"I will always tell you the truth."

personality: To the outsiders, Edward is nothing but an overly introverted and reserved guy who looks really good. However, people who know him can tell that he is much more complicated than that. On his first vampire years, Edward was known to be rebellious (he even ran away because he thought that Carlisle’s vegetarian diet was awful, but ended up coming back after a few weeks) and bitter. He hated being a vampire, and often considered that death was better than this meaningless existence he had been having. Most of the time, he didn’t let this bitterness show, but, as the family grew bigger, and Edward seemed to be the only one without a soul mate, it got more difficult to hide it.
Edward’s personality suffered a big ‘metamorphosis’ when he met Isabella Swan. Suddenly, his life was not meaningless anymore, and he had a reason to go to school everyday. Therefore, he got happier and more excited, and everyone around him could notice that. However, some other negative aspects of his personality got clearer, such as his tendency to overreact and his overprotective and sometimes bossy attitude. But he only did all of this to protect Bella from harm. Edward also felt the need to protect Bella from himself. He was a vampire, and her scent was incredibly tempting. He tried to keep away from her at first, but he just couldn’t, and had to deal with the consequences of being in love with a human. Bella wanted desperately to be turned, but Edward didn’t want her to. Her insistence leaded to fights, and that was when things started to get delicate. The second Edward realized what was happening between the two of them, when he noticed that their relationship was slowly falling apart, and Bella’s love for him was beginning to fade, all the bitterness returned, this time, even worse, which just made the things tougher for the two of them.

history: Edward Cullen, formerly known as Edward Masen, came to the word on June 20th, 1901. He grew up in Chicago, Illinois, the very same place he was born. He lived a normal life without the knowledge of vampires, werewolves and whatsoever until 1918. On that year, seventeen-year-old Edward was almost dying of the Spanish Influenza. Elizabeth Masen, his mother who was also dying at the time, made Dr. Carlisle Cullen promise he would do everything in his power to keep her son alive. After much time considering if this was really the best option, Carlisle ended up turning Edward into one of his kind, and after three days of excruciating pain, he was a full vampire. He adopted Carlisle’s last name and started his vampire ‘life’ with the name of Edward Cullen, the first member of Carlisle’s coven. At first, he didn’t like Dr. Cullen’s diet of animal blood at all, and that’s why he ran away during his first year as a vampire so he could feed on human blood. However, Edward was able to listen to people’s thoughts, which made him conscious to how humans suffered when bitten by a vampire. He went back to Carlisle, and fully adopted the vegetarian diet.
As years went by, more members were added to the Cullen coven. There were Esme and Rosalie Hale, whom was at first intended to be Edward’s romantic interest until she found Emmett, who also joined the family. A few years later arrived Jasper and Alice, who decided to be part of the coven as well, and the Cullen family was complete. They lived together for many years of what may be called relative peace and happiness. The peace was over when the coven moved to Forks, Washington. There, Edward met Isabella Swan, whom he later recognized as his soul mate. He told her about vampires and, at first, it was all going quite well. However, Bella’s blood was deeply appetizing, and she soon started to attract other vampires, including James, Victoria and Laurent, three nomads that would represent a lot of problems to the Cullens.
After killing James, the tracker that was after Bella, Edward managed to have a little while of peace. But, of course, this didn’t last for long. After Bella’s eighteenth birthday, when she cut herself and Jasper almost went crazy with the sight of her blood, Edward realized the danger they represented to her life. That’s why the Cullens left Forks, leaving Bella in a catatonic state. This is one of Edward’s deepest regrets, since Bella never quite moved on and befriended Jacob Black, a werewolf. When he heard from Rosalie that his Bella had killed herself, he decided to do the same, and went to Italy so he could mess with the Volturi to have his life taken away as well. In the end, Bella wasn’t really dead, Alice’s vision was wrong, but it was already too late. They were able to stop Edward, but the Volturi now knew that there was a human that was aware of the existence of vampires and werewolves. That’s when the pressure to have Bella turned really begun, and still, Edward wanted her to keep her human status for as long as possible. Funnily enough, that’s not what she wanted. Bella’s insistence leaded to many fights between them, and Edward started to feel that everything was slowly falling apart for the two of them.
To start with it, when Edward noticed that the constant arguments he had with Bella were turning their relationship sour, and that she seemed to be taking interest on Jacob Black, his past bitterness returned, which only made everything worse. Edward’s been even more reserved then before, and won’t speak his mind to anyone, not even his family. He claims that, if Bella is happier with Jacob, she should be with him and he would be happy for her. The thing is, he know he wouldn’t. The word ‘happiness’ wouldn’t even have a meaning if Bella was away. Edward wished he could just be happy for her, but, as Bella and Jacob’s relationship gets warmer while her love for Edward gets colder, he finds himself dealing with the greatest conflict of his existence: should he finally turn Bella and keep her next to him for eternity, or should he give her the freedom to choose her own path?

Edward watched with clear discomfort as Bella tossed and turned on her bed, probably having nightmares again. He wondered whether she had those bad dreams before she met him, he wondered if he was the reason why some of her nights were so troubled. Edward seriously hoped it wasn’t his fault, he hoped that his presence in the room didn’t inspire the nightmares that made Bella suffer so much, he hoped that he wouldn’t be, again, something that would cause her nothing but pain. Yes, the guilt for having left Bella in Forks still followed Edward everywhere he thought about going, every time he looked at Bella, his thoughts still flickered to the day he left her, he still was too afraid to even start to imagine how much she must have had suffered that day.
But of course, leaving was the right choice. That was what people kept telling him. But he would have never have to leave Bella if he hadn’t talked to her in the first place. He should have been stronger, he shouldn’t have gotten involved with her so much. If they hadn’t fallen in love, if Edward had only ignored Bella like he as intended to do at first, everything could be avoided. Bella would have never been put in grave danger; she would just be a normal teenager who had normal happy dreams at night. But Edward preferred to simply ignore, at first, the fact that he would probably ruin this young girl’s human life just because she was the only one who could actually make him happy. And, what did he give Bella in change for all the happiness she had put in his ‘life’? He made her suffer, he brought her nightmares, and he caused her pain. It wasn’t that fair, was it?
Edward was dragged away from his thoughts when Bella gave a low but audible (at least to vampires) scream. The constant mumbles she gave during her troubled sleep was already making Edward terribly uncomfortable, but the scream was too much. He had to know what she was dreaming about, he had to know what was causing her that much pain, so he could track this monster and kill it before the sun started to rise. Edward could only hope that he wasn’t that monster. That was it, he would wake her. He slowly stood up from the windowpane where he had been sitting. He watched Bella for a few moments, trying to decide whether waking her up was really a good idea. Well, it was a good idea, but again, was Edward ready? Was he ready to accept the possibility that the constant nightmares Bella had been having were about him? Was he ready to know that he was causing her pain once again?
Edward stood by the windowpane for what seemed to be ages, but that could have been minutes or even seconds. He hadn’t come to a decision yet when Bella opened her eyes and wiped the tears off her face. Perfect. She had been crying. Edward’s discomfort was getting more painful each second that passed. He looked at the clock when Bella did so, and wasn’t surprised when he saw how early it was. He wondered whether she had already seen him, probably not, since she was facing the other side. Edward walked slowly toward her bed, and sat on its edge, trying to be as silent as possible. “Having a hard night?”, he asked trying to sound as casual as possible. But of course, that didn’t work and his concern was now clear in his voice.
